NAF Destroys IED Hub, Neutralises Bandits in Zamfara Airstrikes

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Sector 2, has recorded a major operational success with the destruction of key bandit enclaves and the neutralisation of several armed criminals in Zamfara State.

The high-impact precision Air Interdiction (AI) missions were carried out on 28 December 2025 at Turba Hill and Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, both located in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

In a press statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operations were conducted based on credible, multi-source intelligence that confirmed the locations as active bandit hideouts.

According to the statement, the first airstrike targeted Turba Hill, a confirmed bandit enclave. Persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions revealed heavy human activity and a zinc-roofed structure assessed to be central to the group’s operations. Following positive identification, NAF air assets engaged the target with precision. Post-strike battle damage assessment confirmed the complete destruction of the structure and the neutralisation of several bandits.

The second air interdiction mission focused on Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, a notorious bandit stronghold identified as a major improvised explosive device (IED) manufacturing and operational hub. Intelligence linked the camp to the planning and execution of recent IED attacks along the Dan Sadau–Magami axis.

The precision strike successfully hit multiple active structures within the enclave, triggering intense fires that destroyed the facilities and neutralised several bandits. The operation effectively crippled the group’s IED production and deployment capabilities.

Air Commodore Ejodame noted that the successful airstrikes represent a significant degradation of bandit networks operating in Zamfara State, particularly their ability to manufacture and deploy IEDs.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to working closely with other components of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny criminal elements safe havens, degrade their combat effectiveness, and support ongoing joint efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across the North-West and the country at large
