Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded a major operational success with the arrest of Fidelis (also known as Fedelis) Guyama, a notorious terrorist and bandit kingpin linked to several cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and killings across Taraba, Benue and Plateau states.
Guyama, described as a dreaded mastermind who operated under the guise of Fulani herdsmen, was arrested by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari, under 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke.
The arrest took place on 21 December 2025 during an intelligence-driven operation conducted in Vaase community, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to military sources, the suspect has long been on the wanted list of security agencies in both Taraba and Benue states due to his alleged involvement in multiple violent crimes, including high-profile kidnappings along major routes and rural communities.
Fidelis Guyama is also reportedly linked to another notorious bandit, identified as Dogo, who has been terrorising commuters and residents along the Kente–Wukari road axis.
The Nigerian Army said the arrest underscores its sustained commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace and security across the North Central region. Investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate connected to the suspect.
Operation Whirl Stroke continues to record successes through coordinated, intelligence-led operations aimed at neutralising armed groups and protecting lives and property in affected states.
