The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled an armed robbery operation in Karu Site, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a firearm and other dangerous weapons.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 27 December 2025, at about 3:43 a.m., following a distress call received via the FCT Police Command emergency line reporting an ongoing robbery at a residential building in Karu Site. Acting swiftly on the report, a police response team from Karu Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), was immediately deployed to the scene.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects opened fire upon sighting the police team. The officers responded professionally, overpowering the criminals and arresting one of them, identified as Abdul Mohammed, a 20-year-old male from Masaka, Nasarawa State. Two other suspects reportedly escaped during the encounter and are currently being hunted by the police.
Items recovered from the suspect include two mobile phones, one locally fabricated firearm, four live cartridges, two knives, one cutlass, and one torchlight. The arrested suspect sustained injuries during the operation and is presently receiving medical attention under police supervision.
Investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing accomplices, while the suspect in custody will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
