8 Division Nigerian Army, Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Host Spectacular Carol Service as GOC Reaffirms Commitment to a Secure Yuletide Season

The 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force (JTF) North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, under the leadership of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, ushered in the festive period with the 2025 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons held at Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, the heartwarming event drew personnel of the armed forces, para-military agencies, families, and members of the host community together for an evening of music, worship, and reflection.

In his goodwill message, Major General Ajose extended warm Christmas greetings to all attendees, expressing gratitude for their presence and continued support. He commended troops for their steadfast dedication to security operations across the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

“This season is one of gratitude and reflection,” he said. “I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the gallant officers and soldiers of the 8 Division for your tireless efforts. Your commitment, in collaboration with our sister agencies, is commendable. It is through this dedication that we continue to guarantee a peaceful and secure environment for all.”

The ceremony featured uplifting musical performances from several choirs, including the Combined Protestant and Roman Catholic Choirs of the 8 Division, the Sokoto Deanery Choir, and the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), among others. Distinguished guests from various security and civil institutions were also in attendance, reflecting the robust inter-agency cooperation in the state.

The 2025 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons was marked by a spirit of unity, joy, and faith, further strengthening the bond between the 8 Division Cantonment and its host community as they look forward to a peaceful Yuletide season.
