Vehicles Burnt as Troops Repelled ISWAP Terrorists Attack on Humanitarian Aid Org in Borno/ Photo Credit: Zagazola Makama |
Troops of Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai North East in a heavy gunbattle repelled Islamic State West Africa Provence (ISWAP) insurgents attack on humanitarian aid organization compound in the town of Monguno in Borno State, in the Northeast Nigeria.
SpyeTV News learnt that at least 22 Vehicles were destroyed when the insurgents attacked the town at about 1am on Thursday, shooting sporadically but no casualties was recorded during the attack.
The sources said that after failing to find any of the workers in the compound, they burnt 18 vehicles mostly SUVs and vandalised two other vehicles.
An Intelligence Sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the LakeChad, that the insurgents, that the terrorists had targeted aid workers.
The terrorists also attempted to cart away with three 4X4 hilux vehicles but met a stiff resistance by the troops of Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai who engaged them in a heavy gunbattle.
According to him, they abandoned the vehicle during intense exchange of fire with the Special Forces before retreating.
Monguno is located near the Lake Chad region of Nigeria. ISWAP has targeted the town’s on numerous other occasions with the aid of internal informants.
