In it's bid to enhance security in her waterways, the Federal Government of Nigeria is set to acquire military hardware from Turkey in order to boost security against pirates.
A Presidential Aide, Ahmad Bashir disclosed this in one of his social media post on Saturday December 18, 2021.
According to him, "Turkey, which has growing recognition in the world as a military power and had successes to show in Iraq, Syria, Libya and lately Azerbaijan.
Turkey welcomes the Nigerian government’s decision to buy naval ships from their shipyard, and the discussions are ongoing on how to strengthen the capacity of the Defence Industries Corporation (DICON) in Kaduna in line with an agreement signed during President Erdogan’s last State Visit"
Recall that the Turkish President, Erdogan Tuyip, had earlier in November embarked on a state visit to the Nigeria leader, President Muhammad Buhari, who in turn is reciprocating the visit.
