The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a precision airstrike that destroyed a major terrorist hideout linked to a notorious kingpin, Abasu Aiki, in Katsina State.
The operation, executed on May 1, 2026, was conducted by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 and targeted a known terrorist enclave in the Dan-Aji Forest, located in Faskari Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strike followed credible intelligence indicating renewed terrorist activity in the area. The location was identified as a logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to Abasu Aiki, who have been associated with repeated attacks on communities and security personnel across Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axis.
NAF air assets reportedly tracked armed terrorists on motorcycles along with other fighters within the enclave before launching a coordinated strike on both the insurgents and their facilities.
A Battle Damage Assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while the hideout and its supporting structures were completely destroyed. The strike also triggered multiple explosions and fires, indicating the presence of stockpiled logistics within the camp.
The Nigerian Air Force said the operation has significantly disrupted terrorist movement and resupply efforts in the area. It reaffirmed its commitment to sustained air operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace and security across the North-West region.
