Wives and other loved ones of the deceased Air Force Officers that lost their lives in the aircraft that crashed in Abuja last Sunday cried uncontrollably as the remains of their husbands were laid to rest.
It was indeed a day to remember at the Military Cementry Abuja on Thursday where the 7 victims of the ill-fated NAF Aircraft were buried with military honour.
Despite the mournful atmosphere, many were attracted to Mrs Omolola Olawunmi, wife of Flight Sgt. Olasunkanmi Olawunmi and the brother of the deceased, who were intermittently releasing dirges and shouting Olasunkanmi’s name as the burial event progressed.
“Sunkanmi, so you left me and these our boys alone just like that. Well done, Thank you. But I promise you I will take care of them with the support of God. Thank you.”
Speaking with AbujaCityJournal, Mrs Omolola Olawunmi, mother of two boys added; “I never see this coming. It is so painful that I have missed a loving husband. He is a loving and caring husband. He is a nice man, peaceful, very quiet, and intelligent.”
Flight Sgt. Olasunkanmi Olawunmi was one of the seven personnel of the Nigerian Air Force who died in a plane crash in Abuja last Sunday and was laid to rest, yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi who attended the final burial of late Flight Sergeant Olasunkanmi Olawunmi who hailed from Ogotun Ekiti, consoled the widow at the event, was seen talking silence into the ear of the widow while her three children watching.
Fayemi said, “It is okay. We do not want this, we did not pray for this, it is not our desire and it is not our expectation. If this is your wish Lord, we can only pray that you give your children the courage, the fortitude to bear this unfortunate development,” Fayemi lamented.
