NAF Holds Intensive Rappelling Recurrency Training in Kaduna

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has concluded an intensive Rappellers Recurrency Training at the Regiment Training Centre, Kaduna, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of its Regiment Special Operators.

The exercise, in line with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar’s focus on “deliberate training and mission-oriented force development,” was designed to sharpen skills in insertion and air assault operations. This, according to the NAF, will boost the operators’ capacity to support ground forces in neutralising terrorists and bandits.

The programme featured rappelling drills, aircraft operations, live range exercises, tactical shooting, and a simulated assault on built-up areas, including a hostage rescue scenario.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal A.A. Shinkafi, lauded the CAS for prioritising capacity-building initiatives. He noted that the training reinforces the NAF’s commitment to national security.

AVM Shinkafi also commended the Commandant of the Regiment Training Centre, Air Commodore C.O. Olayera, and his team for the seamless execution of the exercise, assuring them of continued support from NAF leadership for future training programmes
