Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has hailed Chad’s contributions to peace and stability in the Lake Chad Basin and beyond, particularly through its role in the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
In a statement released on Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuggar, on behalf of the Federal Government, extended warm congratulations to the people and Government of Chad as the Central African nation marked its Independence Anniversary.
The minister also conveyed his best wishes to Chad’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chadians Abroad and International Cooperation, Mahamat Saleh Annadif.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the message underscored the deep historical ties, cultural affinity, and longstanding cooperation between the two countries.
“As Chad marks this joyous anniversary of sovereignty and progress, Nigeria joins in celebrating the remarkable resilience, unity, and commitment to patriotic leadership of the Chadian people,” Tuggar said.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to expanding bilateral collaboration in areas such as trade, security, education, and regional integration, under the frameworks of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU).
Nigeria and Chad, both members of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, have maintained a strong partnership in tackling security threats, boosting economic cooperation, and fostering regional stability.
