The proprietress of the motherless babies home in Anambra
where 21 children were discovered missing has come out to
deny the missing children reports.
According to Nigerian Pilot, Rev Sr. Marthina Uyanne of
Madonna Angels Community Children’s Home (orphanage)
in Atani community, Ogbaru local government area of
Anambra state rejected accusations that she sold the
childrenn or 14 pregnant girls were rescued by the police.
She however admitted her school was shut down as the
state government wanted to close the school.
She said: “The story is not true. What happened was that
the Ministry of Women Affairs wanted to close it and I said
that my children would not go to where they would use
them for rituals or sell them; so I called their owners to
come and pick them. Many of these children are from Atani
here.
“It is false. I don’t sell children. The owners of the children
have come and picked them. The orphanage was closed
down by the government and I wouldn’t like to disobey the
government. There are no more children in the orphanage.”
She also denied allegations that she used her school to
manufacture kids after 14 pregnant girls were found under
her care. She rained curses on those who spread the
rumours.
She said: “The God I serve will punish those people. I don’t
chase men or sleep around with men. So how can I do
that? I can’t encourage such. There was no way I could
have brought young boys and girls to be making babies for
me.
“The living God that I serve will punish those people who
are accusing me wrongly. I’m saying this with anger and
bitterness in my heart.”
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,
Dr Victoria Chikelu confirmed the closure of the school but
declined to comment further on the development.
This is not the first time children will go missing in a
motherless babies home. Sometime last year, 11 babies
were discovered missing out of 25 babies reported to be
staying at a motherless babies home located at Onitsha
South Local Government, in Onitsha, Anambra State, eastern
Nigeria.
