Abuja, July 17, 2025 – The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and his management team, passing a unanimous vote of confidence in their leadership and direction.
Speaking at the National Executive Committee Meeting held on Thursday, 17th July 2025 in Abuja, PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, lauded IGP Egbetokun’s exemplary leadership, urging him to remain undistracted.
After a high-level consultative meeting, PCRC National Chairman dismissed recent reports suggesting that some police personnel were planning to embark on an industrial strike, describing such claims as baseless and the handiwork of “disgruntled elements” attempting to create unrest within the Force.

"The IGP has been working tirelessly to give the police a facelift. We are seeing the results and receiving positive feedback from all 36 states and the FCT.
“If any state faces security challenges, the IGP swiftly deploys tactical teams from Abuja to assist. This approach has helped in tackling criminal activities across the country,” he said
He noted that the PCRC leadership across Nigeria and the diaspora has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Inspector-General and his management team, citing their effectiveness in combating crime and the responsiveness of police deployments.
According to the National Chairman of the PCRC, the committee stands firmly with the current police leadership and commends the IGP for his reforms, professionalism, and commitment to improving the welfare of officers and the security of Nigerians.
“We view these strike rumours as distractions orchestrated by elements who do not mean well for the Nigeria Police Force or the country at large,” he said. “The IGP and his team have shown exceptional dedication in steering the Force towards a more community-focused and accountable policing model.”
The committee emphasised that ongoing reforms under the current leadership were yielding positive results in crime prevention, operational efficiency, and public trust in law enforcement.
The PCRC also urged officers and rank-and-file personnel to remain disciplined and loyal to the service, while calling on Nigerians to disregard any attempt to incite disaffection within the police ranks.
He advised Nigerians to disregard misinformation from unscrupulous elements, stressing that the current leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, under Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun, has demonstrated a commendable commitment to improving police welfare.
PCRC National Chairman also called on the Federal Government to enhance welfare support for both active and retired police officers, noting that improved benefits would strengthen morale and performance.
The vote of confidence adds to growing public and institutional support for IGP Egbetokun, who has continued to prioritise professionalism, community engagement, and improved welfare packages for officers since assuming office.
