Sowore Under Fire: PCRC Youth Threaten to Blow the Lid, Gives Him 7-Day Ultimatum To Apologise Over Allegations Against Force PRO

The National Youth Committee of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to activist and media personality, Omoyele Sowore, over what it describes as false and defamatory allegations against the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to Engineer Junaid Olatunji Victor, the Youth Coordinator of the PCRC in a statement, Sowore, during a protest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, falsely accused ACP Adejobi of being responsible for the disappearance of a pair of AI eyeglasses—an allegation the committee calls baseless and damaging.

The Youth Coordinator of the PCRC noted that such claims are not only reckless but intended to tarnish the image of a respected police officer and lower the morale of the entire police force.

"These allegations are entirely baseless, malicious, and lack factual foundation. They not only seek to impugn the character of a disciplined and highly regarded officer, but also aim to demoralise the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and undermine public trust in the institution.

"Such irresponsible claims are unbecoming of anyone in public life, especially someone of Mr. Sowore’s prominence. This is part of a calculated effort to discredit the Nigeria Police Force and disrupt the stability of our national security architecture," he said

He warned that if Sowore fails to issue a public apology and retract the statement within seven days, the PCRC will expose what it alleges to be the activist’s foreign sponsors and hidden agenda to destabilise Nigeria.

"Given the foregoing, the PCRC National Youth Committee hereby issues a 7-day ultimatum to Mr. Omoyele Sowore to:

1. Publicly apologise to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and

2. Retract the defamatory statements through the same media channels in which they were originally made.

"Failure to comply with this demand will compel the PCRC National Youth Committee to take further action, including exposing the individuals and foreign interests allegedly sponsoring Mr. Sowore’s actions, whose sole objective appears to be the destabilisation of Nigeria and the erosion of confidence in its security institutions." the statement said

The PCRC reiterated its support for the Nigeria Police Force and vowed to continue defending its integrity from what it called unjust attacks.

A word, they say, is enough for the wise.
