Troops of Nigerian Army under 1 Division and Sector 7 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recorded significant operational successes in Kaduna State, foiling a kidnap attempt, rescuing a victim, and recovering logistics items used by criminal elements.
In Sanga Local Government Area, troops on night patrol in the early hours of April 26 responded to reports of sporadic gunshots along Ungwan Mohammadu village road at about 3:00 a.m. Security sources said the troops swiftly mobilised to the scene and engaged suspected kidnappers in a firefight, forcing them to flee.
During the encounter, one civilian who sustained gunshot wounds was rescued by the troops. The victim was immediately evacuated to Confidence Hospital in Fadan Karshi, where they are currently receiving medical attention. Troops have since intensified patrols and launched follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.
In a related development, troops of Sector 7, OPEP, on April 25 conducted a fighting patrol in Jema’a Local Government Area as part of an ongoing manhunt for fleeing criminal elements. The operation, carried out at about 1:40 a.m., targeted the Dogo Fili Forest, a known hideout for suspected criminals.
According to security sources, troops recovered three motorcycles believed to have been abandoned by the suspects upon sighting the advancing forces. The recovered items are currently in military custody for further necessary action.
The coordinated operations underscore ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks, restrict their movement, and enhance security across Kaduna State.
