The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded the second phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, recording a total of 3,748,704 completed registrations.

The update, released on Friday, April 17, 2026, shows a combination of online pre-registrations and in-person completions at centres across the country, underscoring strong public participation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Of the total figure, 2,259,288 Nigerians registered via the online portal, while 1,489,416 completed the process physically.

INEC noted that the figures remain provisional and are subject to further verification.

With the registration phase now concluded, the commission has moved to the next stage—the display of the voter register for claims and objections. This process, aimed at ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the register, will be conducted nationwide from April 29 to May 5, 2026.

The commission called on all registrants to visit designated centres within the period to verify their details and report any discrepancies. It also encouraged citizens to help identify ineligible entries, including duplicate registrations, deceased persons, and non-citizens.

INEC explained that the CVR exercise is being implemented in phases. The first phase ran from August 18 to December 10, 2025, while the second phase took place between January 5 and April 17, 2026. The date for the third phase will be announced later.

Reaffirming its commitment to credible elections, INEC stressed that maintaining a clean and reliable voter register remains fundamental to the delivery of free, fair, and transparent polls in Nigeria.
