Graduating students of the Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS) have been urged to uphold professionalism and discipline as they return to their respective units and formations.
The charge was given by the Special Guest of Honour, Colonel Victor Golo (rtd), during the graduation ceremony of the First Quarter 2026 Courses held at Tego Barracks, Apapa, Lagos, on April 17, 2026.
In a press statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu, the retired senior officer emphasised that the success of military operations depends heavily on the quality and reliability of intelligence provided to commanders. He urged the graduands to remain committed and professional in the discharge of their duties.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commandant of NAIS, Brigadier General David Umaru, described the Special Guest of Honour as a seasoned officer whose leadership continues to inspire personnel. He noted that the graduation marked not just the completion of rigorous training, but the beginning of greater responsibilities.
Umaru stressed that the evolving security landscape requires a dynamic approach to intelligence training. He said the school remains committed to producing personnel with strong analytical skills, critical thinking ability, and sound decision-making capacity in complex operational environments.
The Commandant disclosed that the 14-week training programme combined both theoretical and practical components, including Exercises DESERT CHASE and SPIDER WEB. He urged the graduands to go beyond routine reporting by providing actionable intelligence in the field.
Umaru also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his continued support, particularly ongoing efforts to relocate the school to its permanent site at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja. He further commended the Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), Major General Ezra Hedima, for his guidance in enhancing intelligence training.
Providing an overview of the course, the Acting Deputy Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Oluwafemi Ogunbunmi, said participants underwent intensive training covering intelligence collection, analysis, dissemination, as well as research on emerging threats.
The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates to successful participants, marking their readiness for operational deployment.
