The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied reports circulating on social media linking its officers to the shooting of Umar Aliyu, popularly known as “Black Warrior,” in Kaduna State.
In a clarification issued amid growing online claims, the agency stated that the incident was not carried out by NDLEA officers but reportedly involved an officer of a sister security agency during an operation in Kaduna.
The agency described the allegations linking its personnel to the shooting as misleading, cautioning against portraying the incident as a confrontation between the deceased and an NDLEA officer.
The NDLEA urged members of the public, particularly social media users and content creators, to verify information before sharing reports capable of misleading the public or creating unnecessary tension among security agencies.
It stressed the importance of responsible information sharing, especially in matters involving security operations and allegations against law enforcement personnel.
The agency called on the public to exercise caution and establish the facts before attributing responsibility for the incident to any security organisation.
“Check. Verify. Share responsibly,” the agency urged.
