Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have rescued a female student abducted within the university community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The rescue followed a search-and-rescue operation conducted at about 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2026, by troops of Sector 5 OPEP stationed at Marish.
Security sources said the student was kidnapped on Oct. 15, prompting security personnel to intensify efforts to locate her and track down the perpetrators.
During the operation, the troops reportedly stormed an identified hideout of the kidnappers at Merit in Bokkos LGA.
The pressure mounted by the troops forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee, allowing the security personnel to rescue her safely.
The rescued student was subsequently handed over to the school authorities.
Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.-By Zagazola Makama
