The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across Lagos, Ogun, Taraba, Akwa Ibom and Delta states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in multiple arrests, firearm and suspected illicit drug recoveries, and investigations into violent crimes.

The operational update, released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, ANIPR, on Sunday, October 11, 2026, highlighted 10 separate cases involving suspected cult activities, sexual offences, murder, attacks on police facilities, vandalism and fatal road traffic incidents.

In Lagos State, police tactical operatives arrested four suspected cultists in Ilogbo, Apapa Road, who were allegedly preparing to launch a reprisal attack. Large quantities of substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered from them.

In a separate operation in Orile, two suspected cultists were arrested during a raid on criminal hideouts, with a locally made pistol recovered from one of the suspects, who was linked to an earlier shooting incident. Both cases are under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.

In Ogun State, detectives arrested a 19-year-old suspect over the alleged defilement of a five-year-old girl. Police said a medical examination confirmed penetration, while the suspect allegedly confessed to the offence.

Two other suspects were arrested over the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl and are being held as investigations continue. In another case, police arrested two suspects linked to an assault that reportedly resulted in the death of a 46-year-old man. The three cases are being investigated by the SCID, Eleweran.

In Taraba State, police detectives arrested two principal suspects allegedly linked to an attack on a police outstation and the vandalisation of parts of the facility. Police said evidence relating to the incident, including photographs of the damaged outpost and injured cattle, had been documented. Investigations are ongoing.

Similarly, in Akwa Ibom State, police arrested a suspected cult leader linked to an earlier cult-related incident. According to the police, previously arrested members identified the suspect as their gang leader and the owner of a recovered firearm. The SCID, Uyo, is investigating the case.

In the FCT, police surveillance operatives arrested a suspect allegedly caught vandalising a solar streetlight pole in Abuja. A second suspect, described as a suspected receiver of the vandalised materials, was also arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend another alleged accomplice.

Meanwhile, Delta State police arrested drivers involved in two separate fatal road traffic incidents along the Asaba–Benin Expressway. In one case, two vehicles involved in the incident were recovered for inspection, while a vehicle involved in the second incident, which reportedly resulted in a pedestrian’s death, was also recovered. Police traffic operatives have documented the scenes as investigations continue.

The Force said the cases remain under investigation by the relevant police formations, including the SCIDs in Lagos, Ogun, Taraba and Akwa Ibom, the Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja, and the State Motor Traffic Division in Asaba.

The latest operational report underscores the police’s ongoing efforts to tackle violent crime, cult-related activities, sexual offences, vandalism and road traffic incidents.

The Force Public Relations Officer reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to public safety and urged citizens to continue providing credible information to support crime prevention and law enforcement.
