The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a South African woman, Gebashe Sithandiwe Jessie, with 32.74 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Rivers State.
The suspect was arrested by NDLEA operatives working in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service after 30 parcels of Thai Loud, a strain of cannabis, were discovered concealed in two travelling bags.
According to the agency, Jessie arrived in Nigeria from Thailand through Doha, Qatar, aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1431.
The NDLEA said the suspect confessed to previously trafficking drugs through other African countries and attempting to expand her trafficking route to Port Harcourt before her arrest.
The seizure forms part of the agency’s ongoing operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks and prevent the distribution of illicit substances across Nigeria.
