The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has convened an emergency security meeting with Area and Tactical Commanders, reinforcing strict adherence to professional policing standards across the territory.

The high-level meeting, held on April 17, 2026, at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja, focused on strengthening security operations, improving professionalism, and consolidating recent gains in crime reduction.

Addressing officers, CP Sanusi commended their efforts in maintaining a relatively low crime rate but urged them to remain vigilant and proactive in their respective jurisdictions.

He reiterated directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, emphasizing zero tolerance for extortion, harassment, and other forms of misconduct. Supervisory officers, he warned, will be held accountable for the actions of their subordinates.

In a move to enforce discipline, the Commissioner directed the X-Squad to intensify monitoring operations, stressing that any officer found engaging in unprofessional conduct will face immediate arrest and disciplinary action.

The CP also announced a structural reform within the Command, revealing that all Tactical Teams have been dissolved and merged into a single unit—the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU). The new unit is expected to enhance coordination and efficiency in responding to violent crimes across the FCT.

He further called on residents to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and avoiding actions that could escalate tensions, including provoking confrontations for social media content.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while sustaining peace and security throughout the FCT.
