The Nigeria Police Force has removed Benjamin Hundeyin as its Force Public Relations Officer, about six months after he assumed the position.

The development comes amid a broader leadership reorganisation within the force following the appointment of Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police by Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Disu assumed office last week after the removal of Kayode Egbetokun, who had led the police since 2023.
A source familiar with the development confirmed that Hundeyin was relieved of the role on Thursday morning. However, it remains unclear who will replace him as the spokesperson for the police.
The Force Public Relations Officer position plays a critical role in managing communication between the police and the public, including responding to security issues, policy announcements and operational updates.
The source noted that changes in leadership within the force often lead to adjustments in key positions, particularly among senior officers responsible for strategic communication and administration.
