The Nigerian Navy has intensified efforts to curb drug-related crimes as Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected criminals’ hideout in Lagos.
The operation, conducted on Saturday, 24 January 2026, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug peddlers at a location known as Gidan Drama in Agbo Malu, Apapa. Naval personnel successfully dislodged the criminal elements during the raid and recovered a cache of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, codeine, and other banned drugs.
The successful operation underscores the Nigerian Navy’s unwavering commitment to combating all forms of criminality within its areas of operation, particularly in support of anti-illegal drug enforcement efforts aimed at reducing the spread and abuse of illicit substances.
In a follow-up action, the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Rear Admiral Paul Ponfa Nimmyel—represented by the Executive Officer, Navy Captain Idongesit Udoessien—formally handed over the recovered substances to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. The handover took place on Monday, 2 February 2026, and was received by the Assistant Commander of Narcotics, Mr Azu Charles, of the NDLEA Festac Area Command.
The collaboration highlights sustained inter-agency cooperation between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and related crimes.
