The Delta State Police Command has arrested some suspects following a violent attack on police officers at the boundary between Akukwu-Igbo and Ugbolu communities in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola ordered the immediate deployment of tactical operatives to the affected area to restore order, enhance public confidence, and ensure the arrest of all those involved in the attack.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, disclosed that following prompt police intervention, operatives carried out a sting operation which led to the arrest of some suspects linked to the incident.

According to him, the suspects are currently in custody and have provided useful information to aid ongoing investigations and the manhunt for other fleeing accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police condemned the attack, describing it as unprovoked and unacceptable. He warned that assaults on law enforcement officers will not be tolerated under his leadership, stressing that the command remains resolute in maintaining law and order across the state.

CP Adesola further issued a stern warning to extremist, secessionist, and violent groups, declaring that no individual or group would be allowed to threaten public peace or operate unlawfully within Delta State. He assured that the command would decisively deal with anyone found attacking police personnel or undermining security.

The Delta State Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to remain calm while cooperating with security agencies.

Citizens were also encouraged to provide credible information that could assist in the arrest of other suspects still at large via the Police Control Room on 0803 668 4974 or through other appropriate channels.
