... Eight Suspects Arrested in Mubi South During Coordinated Cordon-and-Search Operation
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another major operational breakthrough in Adamawa State, following intensified cordon-and-search operations aimed at dismantling the network behind the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing.
In a press statement, the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed that the operation was carried out after sustained surveillance on identified terrorist-linked locations.
According to him, OPHK troops, in the early hours of 5 January 2026, executed a coordinated cordon-and-search operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects. Among those apprehended were two principal suspects believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network.
A search of the suspects’ residence resulted in the recovery of cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal effects. The recovered items are currently undergoing forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba further revealed that during identification procedures, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in the preparation of the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) deployed in the attack. Additional occupants of the residence were also found to have links to the terrorist network.
All arrested suspects remain in military custody, where they are undergoing detailed interrogation to extract further intelligence before being handed over to relevant authorities for continued investigation.
The successful operation, he noted, underscores OPHK’s unwavering resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics and supply chains, prevent future attacks, and ensure that all perpetrators and collaborators of terrorism are brought to justice.
