Residents of Rugga and neighbouring communities in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, have raised alarm over the suspected influx of bandits and Boko Haram elements into the area, prompting heightened concerns about security.

According to intelligence from to State Intelligence Department (SID) personnel available to SpyeTV News, individuals believed to be members of the criminal groups were seen arriving in Rugga Madaki, Ado Kasa, and other nearby villages after alighting from multiple vehicles.

Security sources reported that residents have been circulating alerts across various WhatsApp platforms to warn neighbours and draw the attention of security agencies to the development.

Security analysts suggest that the movement of the suspected criminals may be linked to the intensified operations by security forces in Niger and Kwara states, which have recently targeted bandit hideouts. These groups are known for attacking public institutions such as schools, police stations, markets, and banks.

The affected locations in Rugga share boundaries with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including Karshi, Orozo, Kurudu, Jikwoyi, Karu, and Nyanya—areas that have experienced security pressures in the past. Boarding schools such as Government Science and Technical College, Orozo, and Government Secondary School, Karshi, which were previously under threat, are again considered vulnerable.

Security sources recommend that the Karu Area Command and relevant Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) be formally briefed to strengthen security around schools and police facilities. They also advised deploying additional personnel to boost patrols and deter potential attacks, while maintaining ongoing surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts.

Authorities are expected to respond swiftly as residents continue to call for urgent action to prevent any possible breach of security in the region.
