Military Pensions Board Appoints AVM Mikail Abdulraheem as New Chairman

The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has announced the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem as its new Chairman, signalling a renewed drive toward efficiency, transparency and enhanced welfare for military retirees and their families.

In a statement released by the MPB Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, the Board described AVM Abdulraheem as a seasoned professional whose wealth of experience will significantly strengthen ongoing reforms within the institution.

A member of the 42 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, AVM Abdulraheem has served the Nigerian Air Force for nearly 30 years. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College in Bangladesh and holds a Master’s Degree in Security Management Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, and an additional degree in Accounting. He is also affiliated with top national and international institutions, including the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the National Institute of Accountants.

Over the course of his distinguished career, he has held several key command, administrative and financial management positions. These include serving as Managing Director of Nigerian Air Force Properties Limited, and occupying senior finance roles within the Defence Intelligence Agency and the Office of the National Security Adviser.

According to the MPB, AVM Abdulraheem’s broad expertise in organizational leadership, fiscal administration and strategic planning uniquely equips him to elevate pension administration and further safeguard the welfare of veterans.

The Board expressed confidence that his leadership will deepen ongoing reforms, enhance stakeholder engagement and ensure the dignity and well-being of retired military personnel remain at the core of its operations.
