A combined team of security operatives has neutralised one suspected Lakurawa bandit and recovered two motorcycles during a gun battle in Malam Yaro Village, Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The confrontation occurred when the joint team engaged the bandits in the early hours of the operation. According to the police, while one suspect was killed, others fled into the bush with what were described as fatal gunshot wounds, abandoning two motorcycles which were later recovered.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
He further stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, has deployed additional police personnel, alongside military forces and vigilante groups, to Malam Yaro and other vulnerable communities as part of ongoing efforts to curb insecurity in the state.
According to the statement, the Command has also intensified investigations into the activities of suspected Lakurawa bandits in Dandi and other parts of Kebbi State, assuring residents of continued security reinforcement.
