Police Arrest Suspected Hard Drug Dealer in Ningi, Recover ₦12.2m Worth of Narcotics

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected narcotics dealer, Mr. Ogbu Simon, and recovered a large quantity of hard drugs valued at over ₦12.2 million during a targeted operation in Ningi Local Government Area.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said the arrest followed credible intelligence received from a concerned citizen on 26 November 2025 at about 8:00 p.m. The information indicated that suspicious sacks were being offloaded at a shop owned by the suspect, who is believed to supply narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and neighbouring communities.

Acting on the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Ningi, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, led a team of detectives to raid the premises, resulting in the recovery of four bags containing suspected Tramadol and Diazepam tablets.

Following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, psc(+), mni, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry. The Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit was also tasked with pursuing and arresting the suspect.

Under the leadership of CSP Abdulrazak Fada, ORP operatives successfully apprehended Mr. Simon, who reportedly confessed to distributing narcotics to several markets within and outside Ningi.

Items recovered from the suspect include: 17,500 sachets of suspected Tramadol tablets packed in polythene bags, and 487 packs of suspected Diazepam (D5), also known as “Yellow Voice”, stored in sacks

The combined value of the seized narcotics is estimated at ₦12,200,000.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling drug-related crimes across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement efforts aimed at enhancing public safety.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bauchi, for further investigation and prosecution.
