Operation Peace Shield: Troops Crush Kidnappers, Rescue 10 Victims and Recover Arms, Cash in Kaduna

Troops of Sector 5 under Operation Peace Shield have achieved a significant security breakthrough in Kaduna State, rescuing 10 kidnapped victims and recovering weapons as well as part of the ransom from fleeing criminals.

The successful operation followed the abduction of several women from their farms at Ungwan Nungu in Sanga Local Government Area on 29 November 2025, which triggered an immediate search-and-rescue mission by the military.

At about 6:40 a.m. on 5 December 2025, troops made decisive contact with the kidnappers who were attempting to collect ransom payment from relatives of the abducted victims.

The soldiers launched a swift and overwhelming offensive, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victims and escape into surrounding forests. All the hostages—including one adult male, three male children, three elderly women and three female children—were safely rescued, debriefed and reunited with their families.

During the operation, the troops recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition and ₦1.6 million believed to be part of the ransom money.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that it remains resolute in denying criminal elements the freedom to operate and ensuring that communities across the country can live in safety and peace.
