The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reaffirmed its commitment to securing the release of pupils abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Agwara, Niger State, assuring parents and Nigerians that the safe recovery of the children remains a top national priority.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael E. Onoja, said the military is making concerted and coordinated efforts to ensure that the abducted children are rescued and reunited with their families as quickly as possible.

He emphasized that the ongoing operations are delicate, urging the public and media organisations to avoid spreading unverified information or engaging in speculation that could jeopardise the rescue mission.

Major General Onoja further appealed to parents, community leaders, and residents in the affected areas to promptly report any credible information that may aid the operation.

“The DHQ appreciates the concerns and emotional distress of parents. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to bringing every abducted pupil home safely. This remains a top priority, and we will persist until all children are reunited with their families,” the statement added.

The abduction has sparked nationwide concern, with security agencies intensifying surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated field operations as efforts to rescue the pupils continue.
