FCT Police Debunks Claims of Confrontation at PDP National Secretariat

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed a viral social media video alleging that its officers engaged in a physical confrontation and blocked the Governor of Bauchi State from accessing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Command described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that the footage circulating online does not represent the true situation at the party headquarters.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the entrance to the Secretariat became momentarily congested, prompting police officers to intervene. She clarified that the officers were seen dispersing private security personnel and bouncers who were obstructing the Governor’s movement, in order to ensure a clear and safe passage ahead of scheduled Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee meetings.

“At no time were police officers involved in any scuffle, nor did they obstruct the Governor, as falsely portrayed in the circulating video,” the statement added.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, urged media outlets and social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning that the spread of unverified or sensational content could mislead the public and create unnecessary tension within the Federal Capital Territory.

The Command called on the public to disregard the misleading video and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, ensuring public safety, and supporting all lawful activities across the Territory.
