The Delta State Police Command has recorded another significant success in its ongoing operations against armed criminal gangs in Oghara and neighbouring communities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 27 November 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested two suspected members of a notorious criminal syndicate and recovered an AK-47 rifle with a double magazine.

The latest breakthrough follows an earlier operation on 24 November 2025, during which confessed cultists were apprehended and a pump-action gun alongside other incriminating exhibits was recovered.

Acting on fresh and credible intelligence, CP-SAT intensified surveillance and carried out coordinated follow-up raids across strategic hotspots in Oghara. The operation culminated in the arrest of 38-year-old Justice Ikutu and 55-year-old Peter Okomeje, both linked to ongoing investigations into cult activities and armed robbery.

A search conducted at the residence of another suspect, Peter Kome, resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine, along with additional exhibits believed to be connected to the gang’s operations.

All suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, with efforts underway to track down other members of the criminal network.

Commending his team, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the professionalism and swift execution displayed by CP-SAT. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information that can support security efforts across the state.

The Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to sustaining the fight against crime and restoring peace and safety in all communities within Delta State.
