…Border Patrol Recovers Arms, Ammunition, Stolen Vehicles, and Illicit Drugs in Intensified Operations

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Border Patrol Unit has recorded significant successes in its renewed onslaught against cross-border crimes, smuggling syndicates, and human trafficking networks operating across the country’s border corridors.

The operations, carried out in several states, have led to the recovery of smuggled petroleum products, illegal firearms, stolen vehicles, and illicit substances, as well as the arrest of suspected human traffickers and the rescue of their victims.

In one of the most notable operations, Border Patrol operatives in Gembu, Taraba State, intercepted two trucks fully loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The suspects abandoned the vehicles and fled into nearby bush paths after a hot pursuit by the police team.

Similarly, along a remote route connecting Nigeria and Benin Republic, officers intercepted three motorcycles carrying 43 jerrycans of PMS intended for illegal export. In Mubi, Adamawa State, operatives impounded a Toyota Starlet packed with 60 jerrycans of PMS heading towards Cameroon, effectively cutting off another smuggling channel.

In a related development, a smuggler in Jibia, Katsina State, abandoned his motorcycle and escaped after spotting a police patrol team while attempting to move contraband fuel into the Niger Republic.

The Nigeria Police emphasized that these achievements reflect its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders, disrupting criminal supply chains, and protecting national economic interests. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal networks involved
