Military Pensions Board Reassures Veterans, Holds Talks With Concered Retirees

The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the welfare and dignity of Nigerian military veterans, assuring them of fairness, accuracy, and transparency in the administration of their entitlements.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, the MPB acknowledged recent concerns raised by some voluntary retirees over unpaid benefits. While noting that several claims fell outside its jurisdiction, the Board confirmed that the gratuity component—within its mandate—was promptly addressed.

In a bid to resolve the issues and strengthen trust, the Chairman of the MPB, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu, met with the concerned retirees at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja on August 6 and 8.

The interactive sessions, attended by Directors of Army, Navy, and Air Force Pensions alongside other senior officers, provided detailed explanations of the gratuity computation process and addressed all queries raised by the attendees.

The Board urged all retirees to use its official communication channels for future concerns, pledging that matters within its purview will be handled swiftly and transparently.

AVM Adamu, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assured that the MPB will continue to foster inclusiveness, accountability, and improved service delivery to Nigeria’s retired servicemen and women.
