Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, have intensified offensive operations and logistics strangulation efforts across key areas in the North East. These operations, conducted between 15 and 22 July 2025, have dealt significant blows to the logistics and operational capacity of Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, highlighting the gains recorded in multiple theatres of operation.
Disruption of Terrorist Logistics
On 15 July, troops of 114 Battalion intercepted suspected logistics intended for terrorists in Madagali LGA, Adamawa State. Items recovered included four motorcycles, soft drinks, cement, and foodstuffs. A day later, seven suspected suppliers were arrested in possession of large quantities of consumables and materials suspected to be destined for insurgents.
Combat Engagements and Ambush Operations
Troops engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol in Gwoza LGA, Borno State, on 17 July, neutralizing one and forcing others to flee. Similarly, on 18 July, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade conducted a successful night ambush along the Lambawa–Kalari road in Kaga LGA, killing one insurgent and recovering weapons and spare parts.
From 18 to 22 July, multiple ambushes and raids were carried out across Bama, Monguno, and Konduga, disrupting planned infiltration attempts and further degrading terrorist movement in the region.
Arrests and Interdictions
Security forces also intensified efforts to disrupt terrorist support networks. On Maiduguri–Mafa road, troops intercepted smuggled petrol concealed in sacks. On 19 July, troops apprehended a suspect identified as Mallam Aminu Idris, who was transporting unauthorized Starlink satellite communication equipment on the Kano–Maiduguri highway. On the same day, another suspect, Mr. Ali Abba, was arrested en route to Damasak with large quantities of illicit drugs, including tramadol and diazepam.
Weapons and IED Recoveries
Operations also led to the seizure of arms, ammunition, and components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs). On 20 July, a cache of IED-making materials was recovered in Takaskala, Madagali LGA. Troops also foiled an attempted infiltration in Monguno, recovering RPG bombs, ammunition, and various combat supplies.
Surrenders and Intelligence Operations
Ten family members of terrorists surrendered to troops in Bama LGA on 21 July, stating they fled Gashua village in search of safety. Several informants and collaborators were apprehended during intelligence-driven operations, including a 15-year-old suspect believed to be spying for terrorists.
Strategic Logistics Interception
Acting on credible intelligence, troops intercepted a truck transporting strategic materials to insurgents in Gamboru. Recovered items included solar batteries, solar panels, power inverters, cables, fridges, and gas carburetors—all believed to support terrorist camps and activities.
Military Assures Continued Pressure
Major General Kangye noted that the intensified and coordinated offensives have significantly disrupted the operational logistics of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. He praised the gallantry and resilience of the troops and reaffirmed the Armed Forces' commitment to restoring lasting peace and security across the North East.
