In the bid to make collective efforts to improve the national security, about 300 Nigerian Army top Generals and Field Commanders are converging in Abuja to discuss strategies to spur the Nigerian Army to greater heights in this year and beyond.
The COAS 1st Quarter conference which is currently holding at the Army Headquarters Command Officers mess in Asokoro, Abuja is being attended by General Officers Commanding(GOCs), Principal Staff Officers(PSOs), field and operational commanders of the various army operations across the country, commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force, directors of Army formations, among other senior officers.
The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya declared the Conference opened on Tuesday 15th, March 2022 and lauded field commanders, officers and soldiers for their dedication and selflessness in the discharge of their constitutional role. He charged the participants to contribute meaningfully towards improving on the performance of the Nigerian Army in all operational engagements.
The COAS added that in order to consolidate on the successes so far attained, conscious efforts would be made throughout the period of the conference to retrospectively appraise ongoing operational and administrative activities of the Nigerian Army, with a view to adding value. He expressed optimism, that the conference will generate robust deliberations that will emplace new strategies that would project the Nigerian Army and effectively drive ongoing operations.
The Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Maj Gen Anthony Omozoje welcomed participants said the fluidity of security necessitated quarterly review of all Nigerian Army activities to enable for stock taking, evaluation and projection, to facilitate the attainment of set benchmarks in actualization of the COAS' vision.
Participants were also urged to make valuable contributions that will impact positively on Nigerian Army collective efforts to improve national security, adding that, the briefs and presentation to be delivered in this conference will be focused on key areas requiring leverage appraisal.
The Conference is expected to end on the 18th March 2022.
