Zamfara State was on the trend after a video of an aircraft in motion on a rough dirt strip that eventually took off, went viral.
According to the riding caption, the aircraft was allegedly departing from somewhere in Zamfara State, Nigeria, with illegally mined Gold.
The caption then goes on a socio-political tirade on the imbalance in the distribution of natural resources between the North and South of the country.
Meanwhile, many who reacted have said the video of the aircraft has nothing to do with Nigeria – let alone Zamfara State.
According to them, the aircraft in the video, a Hawker Siddley 125 business jet, reportedly landed on a very rough strip in Guatemala on January 27, 2020.
While decrying the damaging effects of fake news, they called on people to be wary of social media publications and to always cross-check facts.
They said the motive of those behind the video was to sow political discord in the polity.
Anambra
Many people have applauded the Nigeria Police for the swift arrest of additional four suspects in connection with the attack on former CBN governor and governorship aspirant in Anambra, Prof. Charles Soludo.
The attack which led to the killing of three policemen on Wednesday evening in Isuofia, was widely condemned by a cross-section of Nigerians.
While thanking the Anambra State Police Command for a job well done, they called on Nigerians to always rise up against criminals, saying crime has no tribe.
They also urged the judiciary to ensure that justice is served in earnest.
Names of the four suspects: Mbah Victor, John Olisakwe, Chigozie Omeh, and Emmanuel Nnobi all trended on the bird app.
NIN-SIM
The Federal Government has been commended for extending yet again, the deadline for linking the National Identity Number (NIN) with Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) to May 6, 2021.
While many are of the view that the extension of deadline was an indication of the government's response to numerous complaints by Nigerians on the challenges of enrolling for the NIN, others however, opined that NIN-SIM linkage should be a continuous exercise. They said the system ought to be built in such a way as to accommodate new mobile phone users.
The trend generated over 4,000 reactions.
USSD
Commercial banks have disconnected MTN customers from banking channels including the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data and banking apps.
MTN customers complained on Friday about being unable to recharge their MTN lines using USSD and other banking channels like the bank apps.
Customers were also unable to do banking transactions on MTN lines through USSD.
While blaming both MTN and commercial banks for the sad development, many have called for the federal government's intervention. They also blasted banks for not issuing prior notice.
A tweep, @GbamAnybody said "This one no be DSS or NIN or Buhari policy or CBN oh... Our Nigerian Bank executives woke up and took this costly decision... This is madness."
Another user, @Greenaetion claimed that "One of the reasons they disconnected MTNNG is because MTN has started their MoMo agent in Nigeria. Momo agent is a payment service owned by MTN, and it has been very active in Ghana. So, Nigerian banks are afraid of MTN collecting all their customers."
@eddiezon_1 tweeted that "One of the biggest thieves and EOP is the Nigerian banking system. They're only after their profits, how well do they even care for their members of staff especially the contract ones, very self-centered institution."
With this disconnection, @Adaejiemeonu thinks the "Downfall of MTN is around the corner. Who has time to buy from street vendors?"
