The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against banditry with the arrest of four suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms and ammunition in Kaduna State.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), following credible intelligence.

Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed in a statement that the suspects—Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40)—were apprehended on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area.

According to the police, items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, as well as a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region.

The police added that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the criminal network and recover more weapons.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.
