COAS General Attahiru, Others Take COVID-19 Jab

 The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, has received the first dose of AstraZeneca Coronavirus jab in Army Headquarters, Abuja.

Other top Principal Staff Officers who partook in the vaccination include; the Army Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Maj Gen BI Ahanotu ,

Chief of Administration (COA), Maj Gen AM Aliyu as well as the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Mohammed Yerima.

After the administration of the vaccine, the COAS also received his certificate

The Army Chief, however enjoined the personnel of the Nigerian Army to endeavour to vaccinate themselves in order to be protected against the pandemic.

Recalled that ,Nigeria took delivery of nearly 4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, shipped via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO, as part of a first wave of arrivals in Nigeria that will continue in the coming days and weeks.

The shipment was from Mumbai to Abuja on 2 March 2021.

The AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine is being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII)
