Popular veteran Hausa musician is dead

Popular Hausa singer, Sani Dandawa, has been reported dead.
Dandawo died in his home town, Yauri, Kebbi state at the age of 72 on Sunday.
The ‘Taushe’ singer was said to have been battling an undisclosed ailment which reportedly took his life. He has, however, been buried according to Islamic rites.

Dandawo is survived by an aged mother, two wives, 22 children and 25 grandchildren. The deputy Senate leader Bala Ibn Na’Allah, who represents his area described Dandawo as a musical legend who contributed to promoting peace and development through music. He prayed to Allah to grant him eternal rest, and grant the family and the entire people of the state the fortitude to bear the loss.
Sanni Dandawo’s musical career began in 1964. His father, Alhaji Dandawo, was a popular musician before his death. Sanni belongs to the mawakinfada class of singers who sing for traditional rulers. He has the ears of wealthy society members and politicians. He once sang for the late premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello,The late musician is known for songs like Shehu Shagari, Kuzo Muga Madaki, Dan Iyan Kano, among others.
