Governor Ambode of Lagos State has enforced the use of the
pedestrian bridge in the state, and defaulters are to be arrested and
prosecuted. The rule which was implemented since the last administration of
Babatunde Raji Fashola, but people still cross the expressway without using the
foot bridge. Traffic is a normal occurrence
in the cosmopolitan city of Lagos…..
As a matter of fact, there is hardly any part
of the city without vehicular traffic.
However, the
Ojota pedestrian bridge witnessed unprecedented human traffic following the
directive by the state government to enforce the use of the footbridge with Security
agents, special security guards known as bouncers were seen arresting
defaulters.
As a result of
this, People spent more than an hour queuing up just to cross the bridge from a
side to the other.
Barricades were built
to force people to use the bridge, as the pedestrian carrier in Ojota could not
take the mammoth crowd.
Lagos residents
hereby call for a second bridge in the area due to the long queue it has
resulted into.
