Kundi Nigeria Limited has issued a quit notice to Nigeria’s
former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mike Okiro.
Dawn To Dusk reports that Okiro, who was also a
chairman of the Nigeria Police Commissions and the
landlord of his Abuja residence; A06-4 Esa Oke Hill Close,
Off Katsina Ala Crescent, Maitama District are presently
not in good terms following reports that the former IGP
has refused to quit the residence.
The quit notice was reportedly served since the former
police boss allegedly refused to vacate the house at the
end of his tenancy and having first served Okiro a 3-month
quit notice in April, 2015, Okiro was also served the seven
days “notice of owner’s intention to recover vacant
possession of the property” on December 1, 2015 by the
property owner but he is said to still be occupying the
apartment.
The plaintiff’s averment in a writ of summons marked, CV/
M/01/1016 issued at the District Court of the Federal
Capital Territory Wuse, Abuja by Kundi Limited through its
lawyer, Baba Lawal Aliyu contains the details of the
impasse between both parties.
The plaintiff is now seeking an order that will compel Okiro
to vacate the property and pay “mesne profit from October
31, 2015 at N666,666.00 per month till when judgment is
entered.”
The tenancy period which the landlord reportedly agreed
with Okiro on July 25, 2013, was a two-year tenure at an
annual rent of N8m for the 5-bedroom duplex and 3-
bedroom guest chalet property.
The statement stated further that, “since the expiration of
the tenancy, the defendant has remained in occupation and
enjoyment of the property and thereby accumulated mesne
profit.”
