Ooni of Ife moves to reduce cost of transportation, see what he did yesterday (PICTURES)

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, said the mass transit is aimed at reducing transportation cost.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has launched the N60 million “Olofin Adimula” intercity mass transit scheme in Ife, Osun state.
NAN reports that the monarch, who spoke at the launching on Thursday, January 28, said the intercity mass transit buses were introduced to reduce transportation cost and the challenges faced by commuters.
The traditional ruler said the buses are to be managed by Olofin Microfinance Bank.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, commissioned seven coaster buses worth N56 million to ease inter-state transportation for the people of Ile-Ife and its environs.

Oba Ogunwusi also used the occasion to thank Ife kingmakers and the people for selecting him as the new Oba and promised not to disappoint them. He also promised to empower 20,000 widows and some youths of the town.
The royal father applauded the management of the Microfinance Bank for partnering with him to commence the mass transit scheme geared towards reducing cost of transportation.
Speaking further, the traditional ruler promised members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and other transport unions in the metropolis that his reign would not inflict pains on them.
Oba Ogunwusi, who reiterated that the mass transit scheme was introduced to reduce cost of transport, pleaded with the people to patronise made-in-Nigeria goods in order to skyrocket the country’s dwindling economy.
The Managing Director, Olofin Micro Finance Bank, Toyin Olufolahan, who spoke earlier, stated that the mass transit scheme is expected to generate thousands of jobs for the unemployed.

Olufolahan disclosed that the royal father and the bank’s management had also organised free health scheme for Ife indigenes at government hospitals.
It was gathered that the buses would carry passengers from Ife to Lagos, Port Harcourt, Delta, Abuja, Kano among other states in the country.
The Ooni of Ife, who recently revealed that God has ordered him to unite the Yoruba race, said he was working towards achieving that. He made this known at his palace when playing host to the paramount ruler of Remo kingdom, Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo, who led royal fathers and eminent personalities including Chief Kessington Adebutu and Asiwaju of Remoland Chief S. Onafowokan.
The young traditional ruler recently made history when he visited the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, to grace his 45th coronation anniversary thanksgiving, held at the Methodist Church, Apaara, Oyo state. The visit was significant because for decades, his predecessor, late Ooni Sijuwade and Oba Adeyemi were embroiled in supremacy battle.
