The Super Eagles of Nigeria are out of the 2016 African
Nations Championship in Rwanda after a 1-0 defeat to the
Syli Nationale of Guinea today, January 26, in the last
round of matches in Group C.

maximum points and sent the Super Eagles parking.

There’s all to play for when the Super Eagles of Nigeria
square up against the Syli Nationale of Guinea today,
January 26, in the last round of matches in Group C at the
on-going 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda.
Both sides occupying the top two places respectively know
a win will see them book a place in the last eight at the
expense of rivals, Tunisia and Niger.

Victory by any margin will guarantee the Eagles top spot,
same goes for Guinea. However, any of the teams could
still crash out should they slip up. This is because should
Tunisia achieve a high score win over Niger Republic or
vice versa then, a defeat for either Guinea or Nigeria will
mark the end of the tournament.

Fully aware of the situation on ground, both teams will
seek a crucial victory this afternoon when they lock horns.

Nigeria 6 yard box but he scuffs his shot narrowly wide.

38: BIG CHANCE! Nigeria with perhaps the best chance of
the game so far. Okoro again at the end of everything, he
receives a long ball in the left flank, runs pass two of his
markers, draws the ball back but decided to take a shot
when he had option to square it in for Usman in a good
position. He ends up curling his efforts just narrowly wide.
That was a good chance for the Super Eagles to go one nil
up.
35: Guinea have had the better possession of the ball after
35 minutes of play.
33: BIG CHANCE! Guinea breaks way on a counter attack
after a poor Nigeria corner kick, A.L Camara plays a nice
ball onto the path of Sankhon but the Guinea player
doesn’t make good contact with the ball and it straight at
Ezenwa. Big scare for the Super Eagles!
30: The freekick is again poor and straight at the wall.

29: Early sub for Guinea. A.Camara OUT, Bangoura IN
29: Abia Warriors defender Obaroakpo is booked this time
for a foul on Youlla. He has to be careful in this game.

been woeful with the free-kicks.

position as the first. This time the referee issues a yellow
card to A.L Camara for a nasty tackle on Aggreh. He was
clean through on goal there, Camara lucky to still be in
this game! Again Akas and Usman standing on this.

18: FREEKICK TO Nigeria, Osas Okoro is brought down in a
dangerous position. Akas and Usman standing on this!
17: BIG CHANCE! Guinea! A dangerous cross from the left
meets D.Camara in the box but the striker’s shot is
blocked by Obaroakpo.
13: Usman Mohammed turns his marker well in the
midfielder and plays a delightful ball to Osas Okoro but the
Rangers man’s cross misses everyone in the box including
Adeniji. That’s better from Nigeria, still remains 0-0 here.
10: Result coming in from the other game has it that
Tunisia have taken the lead against Niger. They move to
second on the same point with Nigeria. Saad Bguir with

7: Guinea’s Sankhon launches a dangerous ball into
Nigeria’s 6-yard box and again Alimi is there to clear.
The Syli Nationale have started really bright here.
5: Guinea’s D. Camara breaks away in the left flank and
he gets his cross in but Shooting stars tall defender Alimi
makes a fine clearance.
3: Osas Okoro drives forward with the ball, he beats his
marker but handles the ball in the process which the
linesman at the right spots. Freekick to Guinea.
1: Nigeria gets us underway and a long ball is immediately
launched forward to pick out Adeniji. It runs out of play!
