Pope Francis stopped his own motorcade to bless a disabled boy in a wheelchair while in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA on Saturday.
Pope Francis has once again showed his kindness and compassion as he haulted his car to kiss a 10-year-old Michael Keating during his first six-day tour across the United States.
Pope Francis stopped his own motorcade to bless a disabled boy
The boy and his family was waiting for the pontiff drive past them at the Philadelphia airport, when suddenly the Pointiff got out of his Fiat and headed to Michael, who has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair.
Pope shook hands with Michael’s crying mother,
Francis embraced the boy, kissed him on the head, shook hands with Michael’s crying mother, father and two nuns, greeted people on the other side of the runway and got back to his car.
Michael has cerebral palsy, a profound intellectual disability as well as vision and hearing problems
The boy’s mother Mrs Keating said: “It was an unbelievable feeling. When the pope took his hand off him, he had a bit of a smile on his face. To me, in that moment, he must have felt that blessing. For us, it was beautiful. For us, it meant something.”
It would be recalled that two years ago Pope Francis made headlines when he kissed a man suffering from a rare disorder, whose whole body is covered with tumours and blessed a man without face. Moreover, he washed the feet of juvenile delinquents, personally called distraught believers on the phone and invited homeless people to dine at St Peter’s Square.
