Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued a kidnapped victim, recovered 18 rustled cattle and arrested four suspected drug peddlers in separate operations in Kebbi State.
The operations, conducted on Oct. 18, followed a distress call over the activities of suspected terrorists who invaded Rambo Village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, with the alleged intention of kidnapping residents and rustling cattle.
In a statement on Monday, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, said troops of Sector 2, working with local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised to the community after receiving the report.
He said the troops made contact with the suspected terrorists and engaged them in a firefight, leading to the successful rescue of a 40-year-old resident, identified as Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara.
The troops also recovered 18 cattle allegedly rustled by the attackers.
Danja said the rescued victim and recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to the District Head of Rambo Village for further action.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), raided suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities of Maiyama Local Government Area.
The joint operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
According to the statement, the suspects and recovered substances had been handed over to the NDLEA Command in Maiyama for further investigation and necessary action.
The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across its joint operations area.
