The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operational successes across several states, including the arrest of suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and vandals, the rescue of a kidnapped victim, and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, illicit drugs and stolen property.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of Police operational successes released on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
In Nasarawa State, police operatives intercepted fleeing armed robbery suspects following an attack at Uluji Village in Keana Local Government Area on September 4. Two suspects were reportedly neutralised during a gun duel, while another escaped. A pump-action rifle and a stolen motorcycle were recovered, while another suspect, identified as Isaac Michael, was arrested in connection with the robbery.
In Delta State, police, forest guards and local personnel rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim, Nduka Omoyi, unharmed following a gun battle with his abductors at Alisime Village. The kidnappers reportedly fled into the bush with gunshot wounds. A mobile phone and ATM card were recovered.
Also in Delta, police operatives arrested 10 suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Kes Valley Brothel, Abbi. Illicit substances, including Tramadol, Swinnol, Canadian Loud and Indian hemp, were recovered.
Police in the state also recovered two firearms abandoned by fleeing suspects in separate incidents at Oghara and Effurun. In another operation at Ekiugbo Scrap Market, three suspects were arrested and two motorcycles recovered after an attack on police officers conducting an investigation.
In Zamfara State, joint police tactical teams and local vigilantes engaged bandits who had blocked the Kwanar Shado–Malele Road. The bandits were forced to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds, while security operatives continued bush-combing and manhunt operations.
In Kwara State, two suspected bandits, Abubakar Umar and Umar Ayuba, both aged 25, were arrested based on intelligence. Police recovered ₦770,000, two Infinix smartphones, a locally made bulletproof vest, a power bank and other exhibits. The suspects were handed over to military authorities for further questioning over their alleged involvement in an attack in neighbouring Niger State.
Another Kwara operation led to the arrest of 25-year-old Afolabi Ayomide at Avalon Hotel, Offa, after he was allegedly reported to have threatened people with a firearm. A locally crafted Beretta pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition was recovered.
In Abia State, police arrested Ogbonnaya Mba in connection with a reported threat to life involving a firearm. A search of his residence led to the recovery of a pump-action gun and an AK-47 rifle magazine. Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest an accomplice who fled.
In Taraba State, two suspected pipeline vandals were arrested while allegedly attempting to process and transport vandalised Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) pipes. Eight long vandalised pipes, two gas cylinders and 55 bags of cassava allegedly used to conceal the pipes during transportation were recovered.
The suspects reportedly made confessional statements which police said were assisting investigators in identifying other fleeing accomplices.
In Oyo State, seven suspects were arrested following an attack on two members of a local vigilante group at Agate Mining Camp, Komu. The injured victims were rescued and taken to General Hospital, Komu, while police continued efforts to apprehend other suspects.
In the Federal Capital Territory, police arrested Jude Tar, 27, in connection with a reported armed robbery and rape incident at Pegi. Investigators said the suspect was assisting efforts to identify and apprehend other alleged accomplices.
Separately, four suspected vandals were arrested near the National Mosque while allegedly vandalising street solar lights. A vandalised solar street light and pole were recovered.
In Enugu State, three suspects were arrested over the alleged vandalisation and theft of government infrastructure at Umueze, Nkanu West Local Government Area. Stolen iron pans and street lights were recovered.
The Force said investigations into the various cases were ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, while manhunt operations continued for fleeing suspects.
The police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and called for continued cooperation from members of the public.
