The Police Service Commission, PSC, has deployed a high-powered monitoring delegation to Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 Governorship Election, warning police personnel against misconduct before, during and after the polls.

The delegation, led by DIG (Dr) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Board Member and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, is expected to monitor the conduct of police officers deployed for election duties across the state.

In a statement, the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, ANIPR, said the deployment was aimed at ensuring that police personnel strictly adhere to the principles guiding election duties and maintain the highest standards of discipline and professionalism.

The Commission said it was committed to strengthening public confidence in the electoral process by ensuring that police conduct remains impartial, rule-based and civil throughout the election period.

The PSC urged all officers deployed to Osun State to remain apolitical, respect the rights of citizens and ensure that voters are allowed to exercise their franchise freely and peacefully.

The Commission also issued a strong warning that it would not hesitate to sanction any police officer found compromising the credibility or integrity of the election.

The PSC stressed that its monitoring team would closely observe police conduct and ensure compliance with established standards throughout the electoral process.
