The Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), has dislodged a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist camp in Adamawa State, neutralising more than 21 terrorists during a major joint offensive.

The operation, conducted in the Kopre Mountain general area of Hong Local Government Area, followed credible intelligence on the activities and location of terrorist elements operating within the difficult and rugged terrain.

According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, the joint force comprised the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, recently deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State, under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

The troops conducted a stealth insertion into the target area and successfully penetrated the terrorists’ enclave before launching a precision strike on the camp in the early hours of August 27, 2026.

The offensive was carried out as part of sustained efforts to locate and rescue victims held by terrorist elements, including persons abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and the Lassa schoolchildren abducted in June 2026.

Troops subsequently closed in on the terrorist camp and engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters. Following the fierce engagements, over 21 terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The joint force thereafter dominated the area, dismantled the terrorist camp and destroyed associated logistics infrastructure, further degrading the operational capability of the terrorist elements.

During the exploitation of the location, troops destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), believed to have supported terrorist logistics and mobility.

Several AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition were also recovered.

The Military High Command commended the gallantry, professionalism, resilience and seamless coordination displayed by the ONSA Tactical Team and OPHK troops during the operation.

The operation, it noted, demonstrated the capacity of the joint force to project combat power into difficult terrain, dismantle terrorist enclaves and deny terrorist elements freedom of action across the theatre.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing abducted persons, dismantling terrorist strongholds and degrading the fighting and logistics capabilities of terrorist groups across the North East.

The Theatre reassured the public that ongoing search and rescue operations would be sustained until all abducted persons are located and rescued, while efforts continue to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
